Cecile Wehrman from the Crosby Journal did a fantastic job in seeing the 50th anniversary of Fortuna AFS published. You can still order a copy from the Journal. It`s only $5 and is worth every penny! Lots of memories, stories, pictures and articles about radar and the Cold War in general. Here`s the Crosby Journal website: http://www.crosbynd.com/journal/

I was stationed at the 656 Saratoga Springs from Sep 68 thru Jun 70 as a radar repairman 30352. I recently visited the site only to find that it is abandoned and vandalized. I live about 20 miles from the Benton, PA site that was converted to a job corp facility. Something like that would have been nice to return to instead of what is there today.

Great web site!! Been here at Elmendorf for 6 yrs. with a one yr to Osan in the middle. Outstanding historical pixs of all the radar sites. As a weapons controller I`d sure like to hear some stories of a typical `intercept` day. Once again, long live the history of what we have become! Cheers, Hummer

Dick Barrett`s `The Radar Pages` , at www.radarpages.co.uk, (see his entry of 11/01/2001, below) should be read by all USAF radar troops ... they`re fantastic. Very enjoyable reading, and a challenge to compare radar systems. Besides having some RAF beauts of what we call `humor in uniform`, he has added some provided by Gene. I`m sure Dick would appreciate your comments.

Hi folks, just to let you know that `The Radar Pages` has moved to a new home at http://www.radarpages.co.uk This came about because we modem users were dumped by cable operator NTL. So, sorry for any conveniance and I look forward to seeing you at the new site. Thanks to Tom and Gene for their help with my site and for producing the wonderful Radomes site. Regards to all, Dick Barrett (former British Royal Air Force radar tech)
