ADC (U.S. Air Force) added a height-finder radar during the Cuban Missile Crisis. An AN/MPS-11 mobile search radar was used while the AN/FPS-37 was undergoing repairs for corrosion. Prior to the 671st Radar Squadron being established, the attending unit was Detachment 2, MOADS. This radar site was replaced by a permanent site north of the runways. See ''Key West NAS, FL.'' |
