AN/FPS-118 Rx **

** OTH-B Receiver radar site planned but not built. Ops center was to have been at Elmendorf AFB (Anchorage), and the Transmitter radar site near Gakona, AK. An alternate Rx site at Paxson East was also considered. The Latitude - Longitude coordinates listed mark the approximate center of the Tok study area.

History of Tok AFS, AK **

The third of a system of OTH-B radar sites was scheduled for completion in the early 1990s. Substantial progress was made on the transmitting station located north of Gakona before the system was canceled. Consequently, the Air Force used the site for its High-Frequency Active Auroral Research (HAARP), an experimental communications program.
