Z-230   Det. 8, 14 AF / 14 MWS Laredo AFS, TX FPS-17; FPS-78 FSS-7 1956; 1968 1964; 1974 USAF sensor site. Was in care-taker status for ~4 years between FPS-17 and FSS-7 operations. 2nd unit was originally the 4783rd Surveillance Squadron. Then it was HQ 14th Missile Warning Squadron (which relocated to MacDill AFB, FL 30 June 1975). The FSS-7 was installed as such; was not installed earlier as FPS-26 as were the other FSS-7's (reportedly, the AN/FPS-26 from Naselle AFS, WA, was the one modified by Avco and installed at this AF Station).

Current Use: Abandoned.
