ARSR-3 (FAA), now Common ARSR (CARSR) 1956 Jun-75 Site located on highest point of Apple Orchard Mtn, next to Blue Ridge Parkway. Appalachian Trail crosses site at mountain top. The ARSR-3 commissioning date was 7/1/1980, according to FAA records.
M-121A / P-56D       Roxbury, VA **         Gap-Filler Annex. ** In early 1960s ADC plans, but never was built. Possibly a relocation of the planned / not-built Fort Lee GFA (P-56D).

Current Use: Active FAA site, now operating an ARSR-3 search radar. Site also now known as Roanoke. This now-FAA long-range radar site is now data-tied into the Joint Surveillance System (post 9/11).
