In the south-looking image, what looks to be the radar sail lying on the ground may be discerned. If so, that means these photos were made prior to Mr. Foster`s salvage operations in early 2004 -- at least, that one photo. (The individual photos might have been taken on different dates.)

Salvaging the CPN-18 Antenna - April, 2004

I was unable to salvage the tower. It was half gone when we got there and the remaining half was in pretty poor condition.



As you can see in the photo there was another tower on the site that does not show up in the original photos. On the ground near the tower is what appears to be the feed horn support. It was unusual in that it seemed to be fabricated from carbon steel rather than aluminum like the APN-16 (Ed. note-CPN-18?). I am guessing it was some sort of one time experimental radar??
