August 2001 photos and notes by Tom Page

The only traces of this former gap-filler radar site located atop Peaked Hill on Martha`s Vineyard are the three radar-tower foundations (of which two are seen here) and the poles of the chain-link fence (not pictured here). The remaining radar-tower foundation is under the bush to the far right. Also, there was no sign of the Army`s WW-II air warning station (AWS) at this location. [looking west-northwest]

Another view of one radar-tower foundation. [looking south-southwest]

The clearing where the radar building used to stand. It now serves as a parking area for a very scenic overlook. Locals who know about this site come up here to watch sunsets and other views. [looking ~ southwest]

Another view of the clearing where the radar building used to stand. The site access road enters between the bushes on the left. The Atlantic Ocean is seen in the distance. [looking south]
