Site Location

On an access road, just north of US Highway 290, 6 miles east of Ozona, Crockett County, TX The Family Housing is located on the right (east) side of the access road prior to entering the facility.

Site History and Findings of Fact

The US purchased 43.80 fee and 2.12 easement acres in 1956, and constructed an AC&W station. Improvements constructed on the site approximately 75 buildings. The site was operated by the Air Force until it was declared excess and transferred to GSA, where it was sold at public auction in January 1965 to HR Harris and Robert Palmer, Kenneth Cramer, and Huey Ingram.

Current Usage at Time of Report

The base housing units are individually owned. The 75 buildings were in good condition when excessed and have either been or are being beneficially used by post DOD owners.
