Indian Mountain AFS, AK

Contributed by Roy Hartnell

I recently did a web search on "Indian Mountain" and found a web page called "Indian Mountain Outfitters".

It is a hunting service that owns cabins in the bush. I sent a message to a Mr. Berrie and he replied that it is indeed in the general area of Indian Mountain AFS. He describes how it is today in his email. Below is my email and his response. Thought you might be interested:

Roy , Yes I do, and it is still there! I have been in the area since January 1979. As a matter of fact my brother was stationed there in 75-76 if I recall.

My main camp is down the valley 4-5 miles from "bottom camp" My second camp is over the ridge on the "big Indian". The site is still there but maned by only 4 personel. It is still a restricted site so you just can`t go in there.

But you would`nt recognize it now as it is just a couple of geo domes at base camp and a radar dome on top camp.
