708th AC&W Squadron. Indian Mountain. Radar operators and maintenance men of the 708th AC&W Sq., live on the top peak of Indian Mountain - a 4,200 foot landmark on the Koyukuk River about 165 miles northwest of Fairbanks.

Outstanding sport fishing, with the arctic grayling as the main prize is one of Indian Mountain`s main attractions. Black bear are common in the area as photographers` targets.

Other recreational activities include basketball, badminton, archery, volleyball, ping-pong, pool, weightlifting, and skiing - a long enough list to keep nearly everyone busy.

Due to the midnight sun, daylight is nearly constant during the last two weeks. The extra sunlight is paid back, though, in December, when daylight lasts less than 8 hours. No major towns are near the camp. The nearest community, Hughes, is located approximately 20 miles away, and has about 65 residents.
