Spent two years as a radar intercept controller at 740th AC&W site ("rollerscate") on Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City SD. Was great duty.
There was an airman 1st who helped me with missions. Bright guy, smart, etc.
Been trying to locate him: His name: Chuck Diaz. He'd be in his seventies by now. He talked about LA a lot, so I assume he was from there. Anyone knowing him or about him, please email me

I have fond memories when the Berlin wall went up. I was stuck under the General's position conference table, splicing some lines when all hell broke loose! For 4 hours I sat cross legged under the table before the brass broke for breakfast. What a memory.

I was a "remote station chaplain" assigned to cover King Salmon AFS, Cold Bay AFS, and Cape Newenham AFS, in Alaska from March 1971 to February 1972. I "made the rounds" from my home base at Elmendorf AFB, and visited the sites each month. I failed to get in to Cape Newenham just one month due to weather. I still have a few treasurerd pictures of the three sites mentioned and have the greatest regard for those who served at those very remote places.
