First duty station in 1954 was 666th AC&W as Radar Tech, on Mt. Tamalpias just north of San Francisco. i transferred to the 4701st AEW&C at McClellan upon activation in 1953. I attended Navy radar schools at San Diego in Dec. 1953 and the first RC-121C radar installation class at Burbank in Jan 54. I flew on the first missions out of McClellan in 1954. I was discharged as a S/Sgt in June 1955.It was a wild and wooley time with long hours of work because of lack of trained Radar Techs.Would enjoy swapping war stories with anyone of that time period. Also will respond to any requests pertaining to that time. Ron Larson

I`ll never forget my first train ride from Thakli to Phitsanuloke. And a Bob Hope Christmas `67. As you can see I too under went many changes since then. :) P

I served as a BUIC III civilian programmer with SDC at No Truro AFS from Feb 1968 to July 1969. We were the `BUIC Field Group` responsible for issuing regular releases of the software for AN/GSA-51A computer system, and for considering all change requests from other BUIC III sites. My first real job, and among my most memorable. Visited the site just last week, and met a ______ Schooler (?) one told me about your organization. He now works for the FAA, but was a Blue suiter at No Truro about the time I left. Lots more to tell, but would fill many pages. All the best, Randy Biddle Valencia, CA 661-263-6816 661-263-6826 fax windships@earthlink.net

Just a note to say thank-you for this site..I am an `Air Force Brat` and very proud of that...My daddy, Capt James Day,died 23 years ago, while still on active duty, from a heart attack at age 45...I was 19....this site has allowed me to reminise, as well as be in contact with several men, that to this day remember him...one wonderful gentleman sent me several pages from his scrapbook with pictures of my parents!!! I thank-you all for the time you served our country.....and for the memories you`ve made!!!.....You are all special!!!!

One day at a garage sale I noticed an old familiar item, a PSM-6 multimeter. I hadn`t seen one for close to 30 years. Guy wanted a couple bucks for it so now it sits on my bookshelf. Made me think perhaps there should be a `Radar Test Equipment Hall of Fame.` Surely the venerable PSM-6 would be somewhere at the head of the line, along with those `portable` H-P oscilloscopes that weighed a ton. The signal generator for the inevitable MDS check ...

I was reading an article in the Aug 2002 issue of AIRMAN Magazine that the 932ACW at Rockville was retired and turn into a drug and alcohol rehab center. After spending a year at the ROCK in 1976 I can see that is very fitting.
