A friend just passed your museum site address to me the other day-- brings back some old memories. I started my Air Force career as a young 2nd Lt (Interceptor Director back then, later referred as Air Weapons Controller) at Duluth IAP in the SAGE blockhouse; served under the 23 & 29th air division banners during two separate tours. I`ll be back again to visit and will dig around in some old boxes to see what treasures that I might find. Have you seen the book, entitled `The System Builders, the Story of SDC` by Claude Baum, 1981? It`s a chronicle of the builders of America`s first large scale computer based information system -- aka SAGE. Has a section of stories & photos related to SAGE development and a bit about BUIC. Best Regards

My father, the late Lt. Col. Harold E. Daniel, was stationed at Fortuna from Sept. 1958 to Sept. 1961. He was the Operation Officer and later Station Commander. One of the call signs used during that period was `Palace`. As a family it was a great experience and have many fond memories. We also have numerous photos of the base, etc. Would like to communicate with anyone who was stationed there during the same time frame.

I had entered a request here for any information anyone had on the author of a book and film script called, `Wake me When It`s Over`, but I gave you the wrong name. It was HOWARD SINGER. He had lived in Bloomfield NJ. and had served on Kume Shima. Thanks, Ray Walker

No one but AC&W radar maintence men will ever understand, keeping the radars up. How hard it was sometimes and the long days. But! The Bears knew they could not get through. Doug Sylfest

I was stationed at Snow Mountain AFS back in the mid-1960`s in the 784th Radar Squadron. I worked in AN/FST-2B Maintenance (30551). I am presently desperately trying to find an official course description for the tech school (30531B) I attended at Keesler AFB, in order to convert some of my efforts into college credits. Can anyone out there put me in touch with the right people to contact in order get this info. Thanks a million. Jerry

An early Father`s Day gift ... a nice casual shirt adorned with an NFL team logo on the chest. A nice thought, but the team was not a particular favorite of mine, a once-great franchise untroubled by success in recent years. The logo`s size reminded me of that Radomes patch. Turns out the patch nicely covers the logo. Sewn on, a nice shirt, a great patch and a happy Father`s Day.

Looking for any info on Howard Miller, who wrote the book and screen play, `Wake Me Up When It`s Over` while serving at a radar station on Kume Shima, off Okinawa. Film stared Ernie Kovacs, Jack Warden and possibly Don Knotts. The 623rd AC&W Assoc. would like to honor Mr. Miller at our Sept.2000 reunion. Any information on Miller or the film would be appreciated.
