Texas Tower 2 - Loading Personnel - Fall 1960

"[This movie] was taken in September or October 1960. Our crew had installed some mods to the T-2. I spent about 2 weeks on the tower. Went out on a helicopter from Otis AFS and back on the AKL-17 supply ship. It was fairly rough that day. The ship could not complete loading as it could not be held close enough to the tower. So, the captain backed off and anchored for several hours, all the time bobbing up and down like a cork. Not a pleasant experience.

By the way, the fog horn blew about 80% of the time I was there. The blasts were about every 30 seconds making it almost impossible to sleep. I really felt for the troops who had to spend a tour there."
