The text reads: "NEPENTHE, an Oyster 43, leaving Saugatuck, MI (Lake Michigan) for a trip around the world. Late summer 1999. Notice the old 'golf ball' type radar tower on top of the tree covered sand dune in the background. There are a series of these radar towers around the Great Lakes. They were originally installed to search for Soviet submarines [sic]. Now it makes a great landmark for finding the Saugatuck cut when approaching from Lake Michigan as the breakwalls are not well marked."
