Site History and Findings of Fact

Property was acquired and the Air Force Station constructed and operated from 1952 until 1970, when it was vacated and excessed to GSA, which conveyed it in separate transactions to Wadena County for use in public health purposes. Wadena County transferred the 7.54-acre family housing area, consisting of 24 single-family housing units, back to the government, which at the time of this 1987 report was administered by GSA. The remaining 62.93 acres was leased and used by Bell Hill Recovery Center as an unsecure, long-term chemical dependency treatment facility. The treatment center uses all but seven of the buildings that remain on the site. Lands adjacent to the site are used for agricultural purposes.
