On Old Martin-Union City Road, Obion County, TN

Site History and Findings of Fact

The Union City Air Force station consisted of 35.14 acres acquired in fee from H.N. and Lola Jernigan by deed dated 30 July 1956.

DOD planned to utilize the site as an Air Force Station; however, only two water wells were constructed.

The 35.14-acre site was reported excess to GSA on 14 October 1960. The dept of Health, education, and Welfare quitclaimed it to the University of Tennessee on 17 May 1961, with a restricted use to educational purposes for 20 years from the date of the deed.

Current Usage of Site At Time of 1986 report

The restriction has expired and the site still owned by the University of Tennessee, which uses the site for agricultural purposes as a part of martin Agricultural experiment Station.
