718tk AC&W Sq., Unalakleet. Men come from all over Alaska and the "southern 48" to take advantage of the trout and salmon fishing at Unalakleet, it`ll be yours for a year. A complete line of equipment is available, and you can roast your own dinner over a campfire, although it would mean missing a meal at the site`s prize-winning dining hall.

Shuttle runs operate between the site and the town of Unalakleet. Unalakleet has a population of about 500 and is a unique Eskimo settlement on Norton Sound southwest of Nome. Alaska Airlines stop daily with a mail delivery adding to the contentment of the men stationed at this site. This site reputedly has the longest aerial tram in North America (7400 feet).

Here, you can get a view of modern Eskimo life, especially on such occasions as the joint site-community functions at Christmas and July 4. The 718th AC&W Squadron`s softball, basketball, and other teams compete regularly with local teams.

A complete selection of clubs, lounges, hobby shops, and recreation rooms are also on hand. During the winter, site men can join local residents in ice fishing or dogsledding. A complete winter program is in the offing at the site.
