This information is taken from Air Force Pamphlet AFP 34-8-6, INFORMATION ON ALASKA FOR AIR FORCE PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES, dated 26 October 1964.

717th AC&W Sq., Tatalina. Fishing, hiking, photography, skiing, and gold panning all await the outdoor sports enthusiast at Tatalina AFS, in the Kuskokwim Valley about 200 miles northwest of Anchorage.

Warm, pleasant summers, and winters with little heavy snowfall help add to the enjoyment of these activities. The local rivers yield huge pike and trout to site anglers. Boats, motors, and rods and reels are available from Special Services. The boats are also used for trips down river to McGrath, about 15 miles away, for community events that include a regular softball schedule between site and town teams.
