744th AC&W Sq., Murphy Dome. Members of the 744th AC&W Sq. at Murphy Dome may enjoy all of the advantages of a major city since Fairbanks is just 18 miles away. Men at the site can reach the city by way of a road, which although unpaved and 48 winding miles long, is open 95 percent of the time. The men can catch rides on the site mail truck that makes daily runs to Fort Wainwright which is located just outside of the town. Just 8 miles away is an Alaska Railroad stop, and a truck from the site meets every train to and from Fairbanks. Murphy Dome is also near enough to Fairbanks to receive two radio and two television stations.

Squadron athletic teams take advantage of the good transportation to compete with teams from Eielson AFB and Fort Wainwright. The site also has an active intramural program. Murphy Dome also enjoys daily mail service, by way of Eielson and Fort Wainwright.
