It has now been confirmed that the BOMARC missile building (Bldg. #204) circled in the aerial images above was indeed the one where the fire and the plutonium meltdown occurred. The light-gray rectangular area immediately in front (south) of this building is a concrete surface that covers the area where the contaminated soil was removed. The light-blue outline, above, denotes the extra fence that surrounds this part of the base.

Fenced-off area within the missile-launcher area — this additional fence with rolls of razor wire inside surrounds the area where the accidental fire occurred. The next-to-last shelter on the right was Building #204, the one that experienced the fire. When viewed from the other side, it was observed that part of the shelter`s roof appeared to be missing. The 2005 image above, shows that substantial clean-up has been performed at the base. Missile shelter #204 and its two immediate neighbors have all three been removed; it appears that only the concrete pads remain for the two next-door neighbors.
