I recently was up around Lyndonville and got a chance to walk around the radar site up there on East Mountain. While walking around the old cantonment area I saw an envelope laying on the ground outside. I picked it up and opened it and found that it contained the packing list for one of the prefabricated buildings on the site. The list was dated 1952 and is totally readable. I thought it was rather neat that it had survived that well. Not really related to the radar part of the site but interesting I thought. If you`re interested I could scan it or send you a copy.

I didn`t know about the housing area in town so can`t say if I saw it or not. A lot of the buildings are still there, I would say most in fact, a couple are reduced to their concrete bases. All the radar towers are pretty much intact, the old operations building is a little the worse for wear. Very interesting site, I wish I had found your website before I had gone up there but never mind, it was still an interesting place to wander round and find buildings hidden in the trees and try and work out what they were for. I wasn`t aware of any demolition I know they want to put wind turbines on top of the hill there so I don`t know how that would affect the place if it goes ahead. Actually, I just looked up the website at www.easthavenwindfarm.com and it says they would demolish the buildings on top of the hill but keep one as a cold war interpretive center and viewing platform. Presumably the largest building up there.
