Recent travels took me through Las Cruces, NM where I got to view the former radar site there.

In the late 1970`s I passed through this town and recall seeing the abandoned radar station to the west of town and on the south side of I-10. As I recall, the site was still pretty much intact and recognizable as as a former radar site. I searched for it again as I traveled along I-10 and found that things had changed quite a bit over the years.

The site is now the home of the Dona Ana County Fairgrounds. I confirmed this by looking at your topo map of the radar site. Little is left to identify it as a former radar site. The only recognizable feature was a "temperate" tower that might have housed the height finder radar. I was traveling at nearly 80 mph (speed limits out here are 75 on the interstates) so my glimpse was rather fleeting and I didn`t have time to stop and take a photo. I have contacted Dona Ana County in search of any historical info on the old site and will pass on any more information they might provide.
