Site History and Findings of Fact

Joelton Air Force station consisted of 33.38 acres acquired between 1955 and 1959. DOD constructed structures and utilized the site as an Air Force Station.

The site was reported surplus on 5 June 1961, with 2.60 acres being transferred to the FAA in September 1961. 30.48 acres were conveyed to the State of Tennessee. Remaining acreage existed as temporary construction easement property, which has expired.

Current Usage of Site At Time of 1985 report

The FAA still owns and operates the 2.60-acre property and buildings as a radar facility. The State of Tennessee still owns the 30.48-acre property, maintaining and using many of the DOD-installed structures as the Tennessee Youth Center.
