One of the stops on the Ohio State-Michigan fall 2000 road trip was at the former Custer AFS, at Battle Creek, MI. "Progress" has taken its toll here. Only the perimeter fence remains. The entire top of the hill has been bulldozed, and a large EPI Truck Warehouse complex has been built. One sign on east side of the old perimeter fence, near the cemetery reads "No Tresspassing - Battle Creek Fire Dept. Drill Field". Sounds as if some of the old buildings may have been burned as Fire Dept. practice fires.
