795th AC&W Sq. stands watch at Cape Romanzof AFB, its radar scanning the skies over the Bering Sea from a peak 2,300 feet above the wind-driven surf.

Located in southwest Alaska, where most of the real estate stands on edge, Romanzof has its main camp at the 1,500-foot level, and a landing strip near sea level. Temperatures vary from a 70-degree high in the summer to 28 below zero in the winter.

Recreational features include hobby shops and recreation rooms, plus opportunities for such sports as skiing, skating, horseshoes, and basketball. Mail is usually delivered twice a week.
