This information is taken from Air Force Pamphlet AFP 34-8-6, INFORMATION ON ALASKA FOR AIR FORCE PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES, dated 26 October 1964.

711th AC&W Sq., Cape Lisburne. The 711th AC&W Sq. occupies the most northern installation in AAC. "Home" to the 711th is Cape Lisburne AFS, about 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle on the coast of the Arctic Ocean.

Even this far north, you will not find the constantly frozen land you may have been led to expect. Men who have been stationed there say the summer, though short, is beautiful, with temperatures hitting the 70`s and nature providing a display of grandeur.

Mail is delivered three times a week, weather permitting, and if it makes the proper connections, an airmail letter from Florida can reach Cape Lisburne in 8 days.
