743rd AC&W Sq., Campion. The Yukon River, historic route of gold rush sourdoughs and the "main street" of northern Alaska, flows near Campion AFS, about 140 miles west of Fairbanks.

Campion, home of the 743rd AC&W Sq., is about 7 miles from the town and Air Force Station at Galena. Galena`s population is about 200. Joint events involving local citizens and men from the two sites are frequent.

Photography and fishing enthusiasts who want to brave the marshy land and ambitious mosquitoes in the areas, will find the area good for black bear, moose, rabbits, ducks, geese, salmon, and northern pike.

Boats are available for use on the river during the summer, and the site can also provide you with the necessary gear for such activities as basketball, softball, iceskating, and skiing.
