Findings of Fact, Site Location, and Information on Brockway GFA M-98B, based on information provided by US Army Corps of Engineers Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) document B08MT0296 of 1991

Site Location

10 miles west of Brockway, south of Highway 18, in T 18N, R45E, Section 28, McCone County, MT

Site History and Findings of Fact

The 0.91-acre parcel, located in the southeast corner of section 28, was obtained between September 1956 and March 1957. Miles City AFS personnel operated the gap filler radar until it was deactivated on September 1960, and excessed to GSA on January 1961. The parcel was quitclaimed to a private party in December 1962.

At the time of the 1991 report, the owner was using the building for grain storage, and the radar tower had been removed.

January, 2002 correspondence with the transportation director of the school district reveals that the building is still used for storage and the radio tower is used for two-way radio transmission. Dish antennae are no longer mounted on the tower.
