Information taken from the Findings of Fact on Alexander GFA per Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) Report B08ND0470 dated May, 1989

Alexander Gap Filler Annex Z-28E is located near Highway 68, 17 miles southwest of Alexander, ND. It is located adjacent to an active FAA facility and an Air Force installation.

The facility was established for use as an aircraft control and warning station and began operation on December 1960, ceasing operation between December 1967 and June 1968.

The Ops area consisted of a guard station, underground diesel storage tank, a tower for the radar dome, an operations building, security fence, and gravel road.

The site was conveyed to a private party in 1970, and was still privately owned when the FUDS report was issued in 1989. The security fence and tower had been removed and contents of the underground storage tank emptied, and the Ops building was being used for storage.
