Tale of the Flying Box

The "Tale of the Flying Box" comes from Al Stephenson who was stationed at Detachment 36 in 1952-53.

Al writes...

"This is the tale of the flying box. The winds destroyed the old SCR 320 (?) antenna, and a new one was shipped in. The box was much larger than the 6by. We got it to the top of the mountain, where over night the winds blew the whole thing into the valley. I worked three weeks with a Japanese welder repairing it. Headquarters was sure we dropped it off the truck."
